Comedy Improv Group Gets Laughs for Charity Stamford, CT - March 16, 2005 - Who says raising money for a good cause has to involve stale bake sales, dull auctions and rubber-chicken charity dinners? The Stamford-based comedy improv group “World Class Indifference” is setting out to prove that comedy can not only raise your spirits, but raise some dollars as well. Save the Children in Westport will receive 100% of the proceeds from this fundraising improv comedy show to be held on the evening of Friday, April 29th at the Music Theatre of Connecticut in Westport, CT. “While our team has to date been performing exclusively in New York City, we are excited by this opportunity to debut the team on our home turf. All of our members work or live in Fairfield County, and we are excited by the opportunity to give something back to the community,” says founder James Jorasch. World Class Indifference performs short form improv (like Drew Carey's TV show “Whose Line is it Anyway?”), with scenes driven by audience suggestion, making each show unique. The group is composed of seasoned improv comedians, actors, and public speaking professionals. Group members have performed improv at comedy clubs, festivals, and First Night Events throughout the tri-state area, as well as stand-up comedy at Caroline’s and Stand Up New York. The eight member team of World Class Indifference has most recently been performing at Gotham City Improv in New York City. "We're a group that genuinely enjoys hanging out together and that shows on stage. Each performance is like watching a group of friends in a make-believe world where one minute we're in the World Championship of Grouting and the next we’re spelunking through a treasure filled cave. We never know what we're going to get thrown into," says team member Melanie Szlucha. This is the group's first fundraising event. "There are so many needs out there that are addressed by Save The Children. What a joy to be doing something we love that also contributes to the lives of others," says Nancy Follis Wilms, a member of the team. The team will perform two 60 minute shows on Friday April 29th, 2005. The first show begins at 8:00 PM and the second starts at 9:30 PM. Tickets are $15 each. No seats guaranteed without a reservation. To request a reservation send email to reservations@worldclassindifference.com. Reservations will be held until 10 minutes before curtain.
